Coexistence is an attempt to rethink the dominant conservation paradigm – not just protecting wild animals locked away in far-off pockets of forests, but also coexisting and living well with animals and nature around us. We are a consortium of ecologists, anthropologists, geographers and conservationists with extensive knowledge and experience in human-wildlife coexistence who have come together to promote the concept of coexistence.

The focal activity of this consortium is to gain deeper insights into coexistence between humans and nature by supporting a range of context-specific coexistence projects around the world.

The initial funding to set up the Coexistence Consortium came from the Lantana Elephants Exhibitions happening around  the world, titled "Coexistence" and celebrating the human-nature connection.
